Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie will miss four to six weeks after fracturing a bone in his right hand Saturday in a game against the Arizona Coyotes.

Following Wednesday’s morning skate in preparation to play the Coyotes in consecutive games, Avs coach Jared Bednar said Barrie has a doctor’s appointment Wednesday afternoon and more will be learned at that time.

I think he’s going to have a procedure tomorrow and then he’ll be (out) 4-6 weeks,” Bednar said from the Pepsi Center.

Barrie blocked a shot with his hand in Saturday’s 6-2 victory at Arizona.

He ranks third on the team's leading scorer board with 27 points and is averaging 21:19 in ice time.
