Goalie Martin Jones is expected to miss the Sharks game against the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight with what sources are calling a “minor injury”.
The Sharks goalie’s injury is labeled as “day to day” for now, according to several sources. It’s unclear whether Jones’ injury is related to the one he suffered back on Nov. 25, forcing him to miss a game on Nov. 28.
The Sharks have recalled AHL Barracuda netminder Troy Grosenick to serve as Aaron Dell’s backup against the Penguins tonight.
Jones was reportedly seen limping out of the Sharks locker room after the team’s 5-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche Thursday, in which Jones had surrendered five goals on 22 shots.
Dell, who is looking to become a starter in the NHL will love the opportunity to shine once again. He has recorded a 2.26 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage in 18 appearances this season.
