The Toronto Maple Leafs have been dealt a blow, as it was announced today that Morgan Rielly will likely miss time due to an injury sustained against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Last time a player was announced as questionable, he was out for several games. We remember. *cough* Auston Matthews *cough*. We're not convinced he'll be in, as he appear to sustain a shoulder/arm injury.
Here's the incident in question.
He missed the end of the 2nd period, but came back for the 3rd.
There was some initial optimism that he'd be okay as he managed to play out the rest of the game, but that clearly wasn't the case.
Mike Babcock admitted to limiting his ice time for the rest of the game, as he was clearly not at 100%. He said that the team would evaluate him today.
He did not participate in practice, as was expected.
Here were the lines in practice.
Defense lines soon followed.
For the time being, Andreas Borgman slides into Rielly's position - although it's unclear if these are the lines Babcock will roll with in his top defenseman's absence.
Notice how Mitch Marner is on the fourth line - his poor defensive miscues in the past couple games proved costly for his team, and Babcock has demoted him in consequence.
The Leafs travel within the province tomorrow to take on their rivals, the Ottawa Senators at 7pm.
