The Detroit Red Wings have made a surprising change late in the day.
It looked like Red Wings' veteran goaltender Jimmy Howard was all set to get the start against the New York Islanders on Tuesday night but that apparently will not be the case.
A report from Daily Face Off has now revealed that goaltender Petr Mrazek will instead be getting the start, a move that has raised a lot of questions. First why was Howard in the starter's crease at Monday's practice only for Jeff Blashill to put Mrazek in last minute?
The most obvious answer would be that Howard has either comes down with an illness or perhaps tweaked something in training. However it's also worth noting that Mrazek has been heavily rumored to be on the trading block, and the Wings may be looking to showcase him before the roster freeze tonight.
We'll likely only know the answer to those questions after tonight's game.
