Calgary Flames netminder Mike Smith was forced to leave Sunday's contest against the New York Islanders with just over a second remaining in the game with an apparent groin injury.
This would be bad news for the Flames if Smith needs to be sidelined. He has been a work horse for Calgary this season, posting a .921 save percentage and a 2.53 goals-against average in 47 games this season.
David Rittich needed to step in to finish the 1.1 time frame left in the contest.
The Flames might have won the game 3-2 with the comeback, but the loss of Smith for a long period of time would be disastrous.
Coach Glen Gulutzan had no update on Smith after the game...
