The National Hockey League Calder race almost got a lot more boring last night.
Vancouver Canucks rookie sensation Brock Boeser left the ice by crawling off the playing surface after he took a hard shot off of his foot, and many feared that it would put a stop to his incredible run.
Thankfully the Vancouver Canucks have now provided an update on his status and while he remains injured, the news appears to be incredibly positive. General manager Jim Benning confirmed on Monday that there was no broken bone in Boeser;s foot.
"It's more of a bone bruise and more day-to-day than week-to-week for his return" said Benning. "It's a relief. We can't afford to lose a player like that."
Boeser has 17 goals and 13 assists for an incredible 30 points in 31 games this season, and as a result he is considered by many to be the clear favorite to win the Calder at this time.
