The Washington Capitals have recalled forward Travis Boyd from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), on Friday.
The Capitals face the Carolina Hurricanes tonight.
This is the second Boyd has been called up by the big club, after he made his season debut against the San Jose Sharks on Dec. 4 and has played in two games for the Capitals this season.
The 24-year-old eight goals and 27 points in 37 games with Hershey this season. He is certainly on a roll as he registered eight multi-point games, including three straight from Oct. 28 to Nov. 3. Boyd's 12 power play assists is tied for seventh in the AHL this season.
Last season in Hershey, the forward registered 63 points in 76 games, setting career highs in points, assists and plus/minus (+19).
Boyd was drafted by the Capitals in the sixth round, 177th overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
