There was little action on the waiver wire on Tuesday, however, it sure seems like this could be exciting action. The Montreal Canadiens placed 23-year-old forward Jacob De la Rose on waivers on Tuesday.

It has been quite the roller-coaster ride for the young player, who suffered a cardiac episode, otherwise known as a heart attack, immediately following a preseason game against the Ottawa Senators late last month.

While De la Rose has yet to play a game since suffering the episode, he had joined the team for practices lately after being cleared by the team's medical staff. He collected eight goals and 19 points in 119 games and managed to play a career high 55 games with the Habs in 2017-18.

The ride might be coming to an end with the Canadiens now that he has hit the waiver wire, but a new one is starting as the young forward has been claimed off waivers by the Detroit Red Wings.

Many people expected De La Rose to be demoted to the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League, however, it seems like the Red Wings did not want to pass up the opportunity to land an offensive boost as they are still looking for their first win of the 2018-19 season. Some other insiders expected him to land with the Nashville Predators, seeing that close friend Filip Forsberg, with whom he spent the summer practicing and perfecting his game, in his Music City. However, it appeared almost impossible since the Predators are lucky to be able to count on great depth down the middle, with Ryan Johansen, Kyle Turris, Nick Bonino and Colton Sissons already in place to provide an offensive boost at centre.

It seems like it's a new start in Hockey Town instead.

Other waiver news

Two players landed on the waiver wire on Wednesday. The Carolina Hurricanes placed forward Phil Di Giuseppe on waivers. The left winger signed a one-year, $750,000 contract with the Canes just this summer. In two contests this season, the 24-year-old has failed to record a point. He however skated in a career-high 49 games with the Hurricanes in 2017-18, recording five goals and eight assists.

As for Tampa Bay Lighting, they placed veteran forward Cory Conacher on waivers. He played in just one game this season, but did not manage to write his name on the scoresheet.
