The Chicago Blackhawks have traded young winger Ryan Hartman to the Nashville Predators on Monday.
The Hawks were reportedly seeking quite a big bundle in return for Hartman. The team was reportedly asking for a first-round pick plus something else, a source told The Athletic's Scott Powers earlier this morning.
The return was met as the Predators are sending back a first-rounder, right wing prospect Victor Edjsell and a fourth-rounder in 2018 for Hartman and a fifth round pick for this summer's draft as well.
Hartman is in his second full season with the Blackhawks, and in the 57 games this year, he has tallied eight goals and 25 points, including a five-point game against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first game of the season.
He's six points back of his career high of 31 set last season over 76 games.
This all took place as the Hawks refused a trade with the Jackets for another forward, Artem Anisimov. The team had asked the centre to waive his no-movement clause, according to Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times, and the belief is he’s willing to do so for the right team. But that does not include the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Lazerus reveals that the Blue Jackets merely offered a third-round pick for Anisimov, and also wanted the Blackhawks to retain half of his salary. Anisimov, who has three-years left on his contract beyond this season and comes with a $4.55 million salary cap hit, could still be on the move today, but the Jacket seem out of the running, unless they change their offer.
Several teams are said to have interest in adding a player of Anisimov’s caliber, since he is versatile and can play both centre and the left wing. The Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames and New Jersey Devils are among the teams who could be interested in Anisimov.
In 53 games this year, the 29-year-old forward has scored 17 goals and a total of 24 points.
Chicago is also taking trade calls on right wing Ryan Hartman, a pending restricted free agent.
