The Calgary Flames have officially announced this morning that they've made a roster transaction.

Andrew Mangiapane has good potential and has been having a solid year, but there isn't a ton of room for him right now on the Flames' roster, leading to this move. As Eric Francis mentions, the best option for him is to get solid minutes, and he'll get that back in the AHL.

Mangiapane is pointless in 9 NHL games this year, mostly on the fourth line, but has collected an impressive 35 points in only 31 games in the American Hockey League.

Marek Hrivik will come up to replace him. The Slovakian played a few games to start the year with the Flames but also went pointless. The forward has a nearly identically impressive 30 points in 32 games with the Stockton Heat.

The Flames' next game comes on Tuesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Calgary Flames have been spotted scouting the Ottawa Senators on multiple occasions over the past couple weeks. While it's unclear who they are targeting specifically, the belief is that it is a winger. Could it be Mike Hoffman, or Zack Smith? Stay tuned.
