The Calgary Flames announced late this morning that Troy Brouwer would be sidelined long-term with an upper-body injury.
Brouwer suffered a facial fracture on Thursday night against the New Jersey Devils. While the Flames walked away with a win, they lost a veteran presence in the process.
He's been listed out as week-to-week, and will only be re-evaluated by the team's medical staff in 10 days from now.
He will be off the ice for a few days, but is expected to be able to skate again in a few days. It will likely take a couple weeks before he can participate in practice.
There's been mix reactions from the fanbase concerning Brouwer's injury. Many are happy to see him out of the lineup, despite the reason behind his absence, while others are claiming that he's been playing well as of late and doesn't deserve the hate he's received.
Brouwer has 3 goals and 12 assists in just north of 50 games this season for the Flames.
Curtis Lazar is the beneficiary of Brouwer's absence.
Brad Treliving also spoke about his trade deadline intentions today.
