The Calgary Flames have announced that they’ve signed free agent forward Anthony Peluso to a one year, two way contract.
The 29 year old Peluso spent last season with the Washington Capitals organization, playing mostly with the team’s American Hockey League affiliate Hershey Bears. The 6 foot, 3 inch, 225 pound forward scored seven goals and 11 points in 38 games with the Bears last season, while appearing in just two games with the Capitals.
Prior to that Pelso played parts of five seasons with the Winnipeg Jets organization, where he managed to get into 142 games, scoring just four goals and 14 points. Peluso was originally drafted in the 6th round, 160th overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues.

The 2007 draft pick also skated in two games for the Washington Capitals last season. Peluso has four goals and ten assists for 14 points in 144 NHL games in his career.

In case you missed it, the Flames also made a move yesterday afternoon acquiring forward Kerby Rychel from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward Hunter Shinkaruk. Rychel was subsequently signed to a one year, two way deal shortly after being acquired.

The Calgary Flames announced today that they have acquired forward Kerby Rychel from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward Hunter Shinkaruk.
Rychel, a native of Torrance, California, was drafted in the first round (19th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft and has since seen action in 41 NHL games scoring four goals and adding 11 assists for 15 points. The 23-year-old totalled 18 goals and 24 assists for 42 points last season in the AHL split between the Toronto Marlies and the Laval Rocket. Rychel skated in four games for the Montreal Canadiens last season notching a goal and an assist for two points. The 2016 Calder Cup Champion also represented Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championships in 2014.
