Big change in net for the Flyers.

The Philadelphia Flyers have made a big chance in goal and somewhat surprisingly the reaction to the move appears to be largely negative.

On Tuesday the Flyers officially announced that they were activating veteran goaltender Michal Neuvirt off of injured reserve. As a result of his return to the line up 25-year-old goaltender Alex Lyon is being sent back down to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Flyers.

The negative reaction from the fan base doesn't seem to make much sense however, Neuvirth has been incredibly inconsistent during his time with the Flyers but Lyon is having a rather poor season overall. While he has not been given a shot to play in the National Hockey League this season, his 3.31 goals against average and .894 save percentage over 16 games in the AHL do not inspire much confidence.

Neuvirth on the other hand is having a respectable, albeit limited, season this far. He has a 2.66 goals against average and a .915 save percentage over 8 games with the Flyers this season.
