Breaking: Former Oilers top prospect placed on waivers

Another spin around the sun? Is the former top prospect worth a pick up?

Former Edmonton Oilers draft pick Magnus Paajarvi has been placed on waivers by the St. Louis Blues.

The 26-year-old left-winger has just two goals and four points in 44 games with the Blues this season, but did manage 13 points in 32 games last season. The former 10th overall pick of the Oilers from the 2009 NHL Entry Draft has seen his offensive game dry up since arriving with the Blues back in 2013, but he’s turned into a decent defensive specialist.

It’s no secret that the Oilers are lacking depth on the wing, so with that in mind is Paajarvi worth a claim? It really depends on whether or not you think he’s a fourth line upgrade on Jujhar Khaira or not. But really… what else do the Oilers have to lose at this point?

What about Linus Omark? Is he still around? Robbie Schremp? Maybe GM Peter Chiarelli could put together a whole forward line of failed Oilers experiments?

If nothing else, just imagine the broadcasting possibilities?
