On Thursday, St. Louis Blues placed former top prospect Magnus Paajarvi on the waiver wire, and a rival team did not waste time to nab him on Friday.
The Ottawa Senators have claimed Paajarvi off waivers.
The former first round pick, who was selected 10th overall by the Edmonton Oilers back in 2009, played 44 games with the Blues this season, but only managed to record two goals and four points in that time frame.
The Blues mostly expected more from Paajarvi, who ended up in St. Louis in 2010, in a major deal for David Perron. The team is looking for Jaden Schwartz to return to the lineup and needed to make room.
The young player will surely benefit from a change of scenery. The Sens might also be loading up players to trade him after the break.
The 26-year-old is on the last months of his one-year, one-way contract worth $800,000 he signed last summer.
