Breaking: Hawks expected to make move in goal today

Anything to stop the bleeding… this is getting ridiculous.

The tone was somber in the Chicago Blackhawks locker room last night after the team suffered through its seventh consecutive loss. Afterwards, head coach Joel Quenneville answered media questions about the game, his team’s mental state and any changes he may have in mind for tomorrow’s home game against the Anaheim Ducks.

The biggest change, from the sounds of it, will be the addition of goaltender JF Berube, who is expected to be recalled from the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs at some point today.

Goaltenders Jeff Glass and Anton Forsberg have struggled during the Hawks’ latest poor stretch, while Berube has been solid in the AHL. The 26-year-old goalie sports a 2.37 GAA and .920 save percentage in 15 games with the IceHogs this season.

The former New York Islanders goaltender hasn’t really received an extended look at the NHL level. With Hawks starter Corey Crawford still on the shelf and with the team’s playoff chances dwindling by the moment, is it time to give Berube a fair shot?
