The Montreal Canadiens have received considerable backlash from their fan base as of late for allowing their star players to play while injured, and in some cases potentially increasing the severity of those injuries as a result.
On Tuesday National Hockey League insider Pierre LeBrun revealed that the latest Habs star to be sidelined with an injury, defenseman Shea Weber, also attempted to play through it. Except this time it was for a prolonged period of time.
"Shea Weber first injured his foot opening night in Buffalo, blocking a shot, I'm told," wrote LeBrun. "So played through it as much he could."
Yesterday it was reported that Weber was being shut down for an undetermined period of time in order to allow his injured foot to recover. Fans will be wondering if all of this could have been avoided if the Habs had not once again allowed a player to attempt to play through significant injury.
