In calming fashion, as is his style, Elliotte Friedman broke the news around noon today that Jaromir Jagr of the Calgary Flames will be placed on waivers.
The news will be made official in a matter of minutes.
As we know, Jagr has been dealing with injuries, and never got into the right rhythm this season after spending the summer so uncertain of his NHL career. He was signed late by the Flames, and it took awhile for him to get into playing action.
His last two seasons were very respectable, especially given his age. Depending on who you ask, Jagr was simply not physically prepared for this season, but if he has more certainty next year, he could handily prepare for it, and be of use to another NHL club.
What an unceremonious way to potentially end one of the greatest NHL careers of all time.
Stay tuned for Monday at noon, when we find out Jagr's fate on the waiver wire.
