The Winnipeg Jets have made a blockbuster move, hours before the end of trade deadline day. It was known that the Jets were looking to add a boost up front, and have managed to find exactly what they need as they acquire forward Paul Statsny from the St. Louis Blues.

The Jets have given up a first-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, forward Erik Foley and a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft in return for Stastny. The Blues also retain 50% of the star forward's salary. Stastny waived his no-movement clause to head to Winnipeg.

Here is the condition for the conditional fourth-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft: If Winnipeg's pick is Nos. 1-3, which is won't be, Blues will receive Jets' first-rounder in 2019. Otherwise, they will get it this year. If Blues don't re-sign Foley before Aug. 16, 2019, then they receive Jets' 4th rounder in 2020

  • Trades started pouring earlier this week when the New York Rangers pulled two of their star players, Michael Grabner and Rick Nash, from the lineup Tuesday before the game against the Montreal Canadiens.  Hours later, Grabner was traded to the New Jersey Devils for a second round pick as well as Devils' prospect Yegor Rykov.

Saturday was less agitated on the trade market as teams seemed to be getting ready for a busy Sunday, and it was.

  • There was also 12 names, including the ones of Sens’ Johnny Oduya and Alex Burrows who landed on the waiver wire.
