The Phaneuf trade got the Kings going!

Last night, the Los Angeles Kings  acquired defenseman Dion Phaneuf and center Nate Thompson from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for forwards Marian Gaborik and Nick Shore

"Dion brings to our club a great deal of experience and leadership. He also plays with a physical edge which complements our line-up well. Nate has a good reputation of being a high-energy player on the ice. Both guys are also high character guys," Kings general manager Rob Blake said after the deal.

Now, Blake might be getting ready to comment on another move, as NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun reports the Kings might not be done ahead of the trade deadline.

Los Angeles is not the only team on the lookout for a scoring winger, as the Boston Bruins are also said to be shopping for a boost up front.

Luckily for the Kings and other rival clubs looking for a forward, there is no shortage of such players on the market. Evander Kane and Rick Nash are the two most coveted on the block, but players like Michael Grabner, Thomas Vanek, and Patrick Maroon could all be available as rentals.

While the Kings are still awaiting the return  of Jeff Carter from injured reserve, another boost up front would make them a strong Cup contender once again,

The club currently sits one point out of a playoff spot, but their latest - and upcoming move - could get them over the edge.
