The Detroit Red Wings don’t expect to be without Darren Helm and Justin Abdelkader for an extended time, however, the two players have already had been ruled out for Tuesday’s game against the Dallas Stars.
“Tets didn’t show anything significant,” general manager Ken Holland told the Free Press Tuesday. “See how they are Friday for Saturday game.”
The two players were injured Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins as Abdelkader tweaked his groin, and Helm appeared to hurt his right leg when it bent awkwardly towards the end of the contest.
Helm and Abdelkader both kill penalties and will be sorely missed on special teams, but let's hope Holland is right and both will return to action sooner than later.
How about Glendening?
Wings are also without Luke Glendening, who has been sidelined since Dec. 20 because of an injury to his right hand.
Holland did say that Glendening is expected back after the All-Star break, so that would peg Glendening's return for Jan. 31 vs. San Jose.
