This is starting to become a real trend.

It was reported on Sunday that Vancouver Canucks forward Alexander Burmistrov officially retired from the National Hockey League, after being phased out of the team's plans.

Jordan Subban had been traded for Nic Dowd of the Los Angeles Kings - and that seemingly spelled out the end for the former 8th overall pick, whose ice time got reduced to virtually nothing.

Multiple sources report that Burmistrov retired from the NHL to play in the KHL, and there already appears to be a deal in place.

This is probably the nicest highlight of Burmistrov's career, and it was in an Atlanta Thrashers uniform.

The Thrashers selected him 8th overall in the 2010 NHL entry draft.
