Tampa Bay Lightning All-Star defenseman Victor Hedman is expected to miss three to six weeks with a "lower body injury," the team announced on Friday, and the question was not only how will the Bolts handle his absence, but also who will take his place at the All Star Game?
The veteran left Thursday's game against the Calgary Flames with what appeared to be a left knee injury following a collision with Garnet Hathaway early in the second period. Hedman was attempting a hit along the boards when Hathaway's right leg made contact with Hedman's left knee, causing it to turn awkwardly. The defender needed help getting off the ice and was seen limping on the way to the locker room.
Now, the NHL and the Lightning have announced that the replacement for Hedman will be fellow teammate Brayden Point. Though he is a forward, the nomination is well deserved for the 21-year-old player.
