Edmonton Oilers head coach Todd McLellan announced this morning that defenceman Adam Larsson will not play tonight agains the Colorado Avalanche due to “personal problems”.

A follow up report from CTV’s Adam Cook indicates that Larsson could be out of the team’s lineup for the rest of the week, as he deals with an undisclosed issue.

It’s not fair to Larsson or the team for us to speculate, so until the team or the player makes reveal further information, we’ll afford Larsson his privacy. It’s worth noting however that McLellan did mention that Larsson had “a family thing going on.”

“He has a family thing going on. This is the last time we’ll talk about it out of respect for Adam’s family and his need for some time and space right now. He won’t play.”

Family first, take care Adam.
