The Edmonton Oilers have announced that they’ve officially signed goaltender Stuart Skinner to a three year, entry level contract.
The 19 year old goaltender recently captured the Ed Chynoweth Cup with WHL champion Swift Current Broncos. He'll man the pipes later this week when the Broncos play in the MasterCard Memorial Cup against the CHL's other league champions, the QMJHL's Acadie-Bathurst Titan, the OHL's Hamilton Bulldogs and the host Saskatoon Blades.
Skinner, who was acquired by the Broncos at the trade deadline has been rock solid since coming over from the Lethbridge Hurricanes. His six shutouts led the entire WHL. During the WHL Championship Series against the Everett Silvertips, the Edmonton, Alberta native was particularly remarkable. He sports a sparkling .932 save percentage and 2.20 goals against average during the Broncos' post season run.
It's expected that Skinner will see some playing time with the Oilers' AHL affiliate in Bakersfield next season.
