Who will speak the loudest in this crazy situation!?

Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty has reiterated his willingness to remain with the Habs throughout the offseason, however, a recent report from Martin Leclerc of Radio-Canada has revealed that he was the one looking to be traded out of the city. Leclerc noted that three sources close to the team confirmed the information, and Pacioretty's agent has had enough.

First, agent Allan Walsh used social media to share his anger and deny the report, noting that Pacioretty was eager to sign a new deal with the Canadiens and would do so TODAY if he could.

"Obvious these “sources” are coming from the club. Max will always take the high road and repeats again, he is ready to sign an extension with Montreal TODAY. It was Montreal that traded Max to LA at the draft and it was a DONE DEAL subject to Max signing an extension with LA."

There were reports in June that a deal to send Pacioretty to the Los Angeles Kings fell through when the two sides did not agree on a contract.

While he has kept using his Twitter account to set the record straight, Walsh went on TSN 690 in Montreal on Friday, to refute reports that the Habs' captain had asked for a trade out of town.

“I would tell you this - and I’m going to say it directly and I hope everybody hears me and understands this. Max Pacioretty has never - NEVER EVER - requested a trade out of Montreal, period.”

“When Max and I started discussing his situation, there was one marching order: I want to stay in Montreal, do your best to make it happen.

Walsh also said that the Canadiens have not made an offer, or began negotiations with Pacioretty either.

Pacioretty did mention during his golf tournament at the start of the week that he had not heard from the Canadiens in terms of a new contract. It now seems more than likely that Pacioretty will be on his way out before the start of the season, as training camp kicks off in just two weeks in Montreal.

The veteran forward is entering the final season of a deal that counts for $4.5 million against the cap, after which he’ll become an unrestricted free agent. It was a past difficult season for the captain, who scored just 17 goals, following four consecutive 30-goal seasons.
