The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced that they’ve recalled defenseman Frank Corrado from the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
The 24-year-old blue liner has played just five games for Pittsburgh over two seasons, but has been stellar with WBS this season, putting up a goal and eight points in 19 games.
Corrado was acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in advance of last season’s trade deadline to provide some insurance for the team’s defense corps. As it turned out, Corrado was used only sparingly, failing to even get into a single playoff game.
With both Justin Schultz and Kris Letang on the shelf now for the battered Penguins, could Corrado finally get an extended look with the big club? This is his shot, it’s up to him to take advantage.
