Arizona Coyotes forward Zac Rinaldo has just been hit with a huge suspension.
The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has just announced that Rinaldo will be suspended for the next six games due to his punch on "an unsuspecting opponent," Colorado Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard.
The Department of Player Safety ruled that Rinaldo delivered a "forceful, bare knuckle punch to the face of an opponent who had given no indication that he was anticipating a fight or was in any way a willing combatant.
They also claimed that they accepted Rinaldo's explanation that Girard's approach had signaled to him that he was going to fight, it seems Rinaldo's reputation forced the league to issue a severe suspensuion to the repeat offender.
