Last week, the group of investors Oak View Group, who is behind the city of Seattle working hard to land the 32nd team in the National Hockey League, started to register several teams names and domain names to make sure they can have a good variety and obtain the one they truly desire.
(And of course, they don't want to be like the Vegas Golden Knights, and end up in the middle of a trademark lawsuit...)
It didn't take long for bids to be made on what name will win the race and be designed on the jersey of the expansion team, if Seattle manages to convince NHL commissioner Gary Bettman that the interest is booming in town and that the market will be great.
On the bodog.net webpage, it has been revealed that the early favorite is the Emeralds, a nod to the city's nickname, followed by the Totems, the name of Seattle's minor pro hockey team from 1958-74. Rainiers was the name of a minor-league baseball team.
