When you think of social media presence and NHL players, the first name that usually comes to mind is
Zemgus Girgensons P.K. Subban of the Nashville Predators.
There's rarely any bad press that comes along with his social media posts, of course unless you live in Montreal, then there's always something to dissect.
In this particular instance, the superstar defenseman made an egregious error, drawing the ire of French media.
If you recall, Subban was a host during the Just For Laughs gala back in 2016 when he was traded, and didn't fail to charm the entire audience and hockey world alike.
Subban was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award in 2018 and to promote that nomination, he shared a picture of him in a Just For Laughs jersey from back in 2016 onto Instagram.
On first glance, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with this. However, the president of Just For Laughs, Gilbert Rozon, has been accused of sexual abuse and harassment.
9 different women have stepped forward thus far with these accusations, with potentially more to come, as the #MeToo movement keeps on picking up steam. Several big names have fallen under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons as of late, and making any kind of connection to them is seen in a very negative light.
In this case, Subban unwittingly upset many fans, all one needs to do is browse the comments on his Instagram post here. He clearly either isn't aware of these major allegations, or is just ignorant to how posting this picture in these times reflects very poorly on him.
Rozon stepped down from his position with the festival after the allegations went public.
Subban is known for his charitable acts and stellar community involvement, so hopefully his image doesn't take too much of a hit from this.
