When Detroit Red Wings veteran forward David Booth was placed on waivers yertersay, for the third time this season, fans expected him to clear and be sent down to the minors - once again.
However, though he did clear the waiver wire on Tuesday, the 33-year-old will not go down to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Au contraire.
Last night, after he learned that he was placed on waivers, Booth scored quite the goal in a 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils.
So despite being on the wire, the Wings are having him in the lineup tonight as they face the Philadelphia Flyers.
Booth has had a bit of a redemption trip here in Detroit, after spending time away from the NHL. He’s been a serviceable bottom-six player, with four goals and an assist in 18 games this season.
It is just surprising to see him stick with the team after the recent waiver activity.
Chaput clears too...
Vancouver Canucks forward Michael Chaput was also placed on waivers Monday, and like Booth, the 25-year-old cleared the wire today.
Chaput is without a point in nine games with the Canucks this season. He's spent the past two seasons with the Canucks, scoring four goals and nine points in 68 games with the team last year.
The 2010 third-round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2010 has a total of six goals and 17 points in 135 career games.
