When the Montreal Canadiens shut down star defenseman Shea Weber with a foot injury, little information was given to Habs fans on an exact return date and on the specific nature of the ailment.

Many expected for the veteran blue liner to come back on the ice after the All-Star break, but Weber was nowhere to be found at the end of January. Finally, on Feb. 2, head coach Claude Julien revealed that Weber was out of his walking boot, a first good update on his condition.

And today, we have another one. Weber jumped on the ice on Wednesday, for the first time since December, before his teammates practice. The defender was on the ice with forward Phillip Danault, who recently suffered a concussion after getting hit in the head by Boston Bruins' Zdeno Chara's slap shot.

Of course, for now, there is still no update of a possible return to action for Weber, but fans will be happy to see he is back in his skates and of the ice for the first time in over a month.

Weber only took part in a mere 26 games this season. Whenever he is ready to return, he is expected to be back on the top pairing as well as resuming his role on the power play.
