A mammoth-sized winger just hit the trade market, according to Sportsnet's top insider, Elliotte Friedman.
"Winnipeg (Jets) has made it known that Shawn Matthias, who's been difficult to get in the lineup, he hasn't been able to get a spot right now, he is available," Friedman declared.
Matthias, 29, has only played two games in the last month, left as a healthy scratch more often than not, with only 2 assists in 18 games, the 6'4" left winger could certainly use a change of scenery to reboot his career.
While he is not a prolific scorer by any stretch, a winger with his stature could be a useful player and could be had cheaply as a depth pickup for the playoffs.
Matthias, drafted 47th overall in 2006, has 173 points over 542 games split over his time with the Florida Panthers, Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche, and Winnipeg Jets.
He was originally drafted by the Detroit Red Wings.
