USA Hockey has named New Jersey Devils prospect Joey Anderson as captain for it’s 2018 World Junior Championships team.

“Joey has been among the leaders of this group since this summer and we couldn’t be happier than to have him leading this locker room,” said head coach Bob Motzko. “We have a strong leadership group and will announce our alternate captains in time, but in putting our mission together, every mission needs a leader and we’re excited to have Joey take that step forward.”

Anderson was a big contributor to last year’s gold medal winning team and was an assistant captain on USA Hockey’s under-18 tournament in 2016. The University of Minnesota Duluth product  has four goals and nine points in 13 games this season.
