We finally know more about Buffalo Sabres star forward Jack Eichel's injury as a timetable for his recovery from the high-ankle sprain he suffered Saturday night has been revealed.
Head coach Phil Housley confirmed Sunday has announced that Eichel will miss four-to-six weeks. Housley did not rule out the possibility of his best player to return for the end of the season, as the team has not officially shut him down as of yet.
However, the Sabres will not make the postseason and could simply end his season sooner than later.
The injury took place when Eichel got mixed up with Boston Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk behind the net, and went down awkwardly. He left the game and did not return.
Last season, the 21-year-old forward suffered the same injury and missed most of the first two months of the campaign. Last year's injury was to his left ankle, and this latest injury is to his right ankle, according to the Buffalo News' Mike Harrington.
Eichel has 22 goals and 53 points in 55 games.
