Breaking: The worst is confirmed for Mason

A bad season just got that much worse.

The Winnipeg Jets announced earlier today that they had recalled both Jack Roslovic and Michael Hutchinson from their AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose.

The move to bring Hutchinson was curious to say the least, but it was made very clear this afternoon by head coach Paul Maurice.

Steve Mason suffered a concussion earlier this season, on November 25th against the San Jose Sharks.

The Jets had just gotten off their CBA-mandated bye week, returning to practice for the first time today.

Mason is 3-6-1 this season with an abysmal 3.52 goals against average and sub-.900 save percentage.

Hutchinson hasn't suited up for a game this year for the Jets, but has been lights out in Manitoba, posting a 14-2-1 record, with a 1.94 goals against average and a sparkling 0.942 save percentage.

Connor Hellebuyck shoulders the main load for the Jets, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, it's unlikely Hutchinson gets much in the way of game time.

The Jets take on the Calgary Flames on Saturday at 2pm local time.
