The Winnipeg Jets announced some unfortunate news this morning. Defenseman Jacob Trouba suffered an ankle injury in the team's match this past Thursday, and will be out long-term.
That's a time frame of approximately one and a half to two months, which could keep him out for almost the remainder of the regular season.
Mark Scheifele still has several weeks to go in his recovery, so that's two huge gaps in the lineup that the Jets will have to deal with leading up to the trade deadline.
It may or may not have an impact on Cheveldayoff's decisions come February 26th. The odds of Trouba getting traded himself were pretty low, but the rumours have been circulating for over a year now. He'll certainly be untradeable at this point.
Trouba has 3 goals and 17 assists for 20 points on the year.
