The Toronto Maple Leafs had a welcome face back in practice today, as Auston Matthews re-joined his teammates for the first time since suffering an undisclosed upper-body injury earlier this month.
The team has failed to produce offense in his absence, not including the 8-1 domination over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday. It remains to be seen if that was an anomaly or a sign of things to come.
Nevertheless, Matthews skated today, but news out of practice is that he will likely be unable to play this weekend, despite being close to making a return.
One important update out of all this is the nature of Matthews' injury, which Mike Babcock had spent so much effort concealing over the last couple of weeks.
The fear was that it was a concussion, but no one would admit to it, until now. Let's just hope that no one targets his head once he returns to the game.
