To say that the hockey tournament did not start off the way most people thought it would, is an understatement.

First, the American team lost 3-2 in overtime against Slovenia on Wednesday. Slovenia pulled off one of the biggest upsets of PyeongChang 2018 thus far, as they completed the comeback to defeat the United States during the men's hockey opener.

Jan Mursak scored his second goal of the game 38 seconds into overtime.

But it did not end there. Team Slovakia held on to their lead and wins it 3-2 against Olympic Athletes from Russia in their opener.

Many expected the Russian athletes to be the best team of the hockey tournament this year, but clearly Ilya Kovalchuk's crew is off to a bad start. And quite a shocking one to be honest.

It is WIDE open. Canada opens the tournament on Thursday against Switzerland.
