On Friday, the focus quickly turned to the Ottawa Senators as they claimed forward Magnus Paajarvi off waivers, where he has been placed by the St. Louis Blues.
But it was not the only activity that occurred on waivers Friday, as the Columbus Blue Jackets placed winter Jordan Schroeder on the waiver wire as well.
The 27-year-old has played in 21 games with the Jackets this season, recorded a goal and an assists along the way. Schroeder is a former first round pick from the Vancouver Canucks, who selected him 22nd overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Since, he has also played for the Minnesota Wild, but was traded to Columbus this past summer in return for Dante Salituro.
He could become an option as some teams are looking for depth up front, either to boost their offense or to add interesting pieces to a trade package.
