When he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings back in November, we can bet that veteran forward Jussi Jokinen was not expected for the story to take this turn. On Tuesday, the Kings placed Jokinen on waivers...
And on Wednesday, he was claimed by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
When Jokinen moved to L.A., general manager Rob Blake was hoping he could use him as a depth forward with faceoff skills and a solid two-way game. The 34-year-old, who was joining his seventh NHL franchise with the Kings, was seen as a good fit with the Kings.
Now on the way to his eighth team in the NHL, the Jackets are surely hoping Jokinen can fill the void up front and bring good leadership and experience to Columbus.
In 18 games with the Kings, Jokinen managed to record a goal and five points. He had tallied just one assist in 14 contests with the Oilers.
It looks like it's not over for the veteran after all!
