The Minnesota Wild announced this morning that they have recalled Viktor Loov from the American Hockey League.
The Wild acquired Loov in a trade on Thursday from the New Jersey Devils that saw Mario Lucia and Christoph Bertschy go the other way.
The trade was made in order to clear a contract spot in the organization.
Lucia was a former 2nd round pick by the Wild that never managed to crack the National Hockey League. Bertschy, for his part, played 9 games over 3 seasons with the Wild.
Loov, a former 7th round pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs, has 4 NHL games under his belt from back in 2015-16, where he notched two assists for the Canadian team.
The defenseman has since been a regular in the AHL, but looks poised to get his second chance with the Wild this weekend.
