It is now official.
The Edmonton Oilers have placed 24-year-old goaltender Laurent Brossoit on waivers. This comes just two days after Peter Chiarelli acquired veteran backup goaltender Al Montoya from the Montreal Canadiens, in exchange of a conditional fourth-round pick.
If he clears, he will report to his team's AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors. As we reported yesterday, Brossoit was extremely disappointed when he heard his team had traded for Montoya.
Brossoit recorded 3 wins, 7 losses and 1 overtime loss in Cam Talbot's absence this season, with a 3.22 goals against average and .886 save percentage.
As Elliotte Friedman mentioned, the Pittsburgh Penguins also placed 24-year-old defenseman Frankie Corrado on waivers, with the purpose of sending him to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, in the AHL.
