When you get selected fourth overall in the first round of the National Hockey League entry draft, you expected to go on to score goals and be a difference-maker, especially with a team like the Ottawa Senators who made it clear that they were entering a full-on rebuilding process. However, when you are Senators rookie Brady Tkachuk, you surely didn't expected to be out long-term with an injury within the first few games of the season...

Unfortunately, the breaking news report doesn't lie. The Senators head coach Guy Boucher has confirmed that rookie Brady Tkachuk will be out about a month with a torn ligament in his leg.

Just a few nights ago, the Senators fans and management had been impressed by the work of the rookies, including Tkachuk's, as Ottawa got the better of the Dallas Stars and their scoring powerhouse 4-1 on Monday evening.

Rookies Max Lajoie and Tkachuk turned a second-period deficit into a third-period lead and the Senators closed out the Stars from there with goals by Mikkel Boedker and Zack Smith.

Worry started to arise this morning as the 19-year-old forward did not show up at practice with his teammates, who are getting ready to take on the Montreal Canadiens in a rivalry clash on Saturday night. After many questions were asked about his condition, Boucher had no other choice but to reveal the devastating news. Boucher added that he will not require surgery. Tkachuk is believed to have suffered the injury while throwing a hit during Monday's contest.

This is another blow for the Senators organization who is currently being ravaged by injuries in both the NHL and in the American Hockey League. on the NHL level, on top of the announcement about Gaborik today, Marian Gaborik, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Cody Ceci, Ryan Dzingel, Alex Forementon and Max McCormick are all sidelined with injuries.

There are also seven injured players on the farm club team roster...

Star forward Mark Stone was also missing from the team's practice this morning in Ottawa, however, it is believed that he should be ready to return tomorrow, according to Ian Mendes of Ottawa's TSN 1200.
