Earlier this morning, on his 84th birthday, legendary CBC broadcaster Don Cherry joined the morning crew on Sportsnet 650 radio in Vancouver to discuss the 2017-18 Vancouver Canucks season and look ahead to the team’s moves as the trade deadline. And, as always, the feisty Cherry did not hold back one bit.
When asked about the trade rumours regarding Canucks defenceman Erik Gudbranson, Cherry bristled at the idea of trading the tough guy:
Those “other guys” Cherry is referring to? That’d be legendary Canucks Henrik and Daniel Sedin. Cherry says they “have to go.”
Controversial take, particularly in this city, but is Grapes right about the rebuild?
And how about a player like Arizona Coyotes forward Max Domi, who has recently surfaced in trade rumours?
All in all, a pretty good ripping of the Canucks by Grapes. While he did stop short of calling the Sedin twins “sisters”, we’re sure he managed to offend a Canucks fan or two. What’s your take? Is the 84-year-old Cherry out to lunch?
