In case you missed last night’s Coach’s Corner segment during CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada broadcast, you missed another CLASSIC moment from legendary CBC broadcaster Don Cherry.
First off, how about this custom Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs) suit?
Looking good, Grapes!
After first showing first period highlights of the Leafs forecheck against the Boston Bruins, Cherry would go on to shine a light on the Marlies and their first round playoff series against the Utica Comets, AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks. Before all of that however, Grapes kicked things off with a little ditty from a dancing hamster. What?! Just watch…
Now we’ve seen just about everything…
If you thought that was great though, just wait until you see what happens when Grapes tries to end his segment with the dancing hamster one last time.
“Aw… you knocked all the batteries out, YA DUMMY!” Priceless! Perfect!
Note, if the video above does not load, simply forward the first YouTube clip to the end of the segment.
If there was ever a moment that best represents the relationship between Grapes on Hockey Night in Canada host Ron McLean, two legendary broadcasters, this has to be it.
Grapes speechless in describing Humboldt Broncos tragedy
In case you missed it earlier this evening, the community of Humboldt, Saskatchewan held a vigil to honor the 15 victims of Friday’s tragic bus accident involving the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s (SJHL) Humboldt Broncos.
The mournful gathering featured stories of sympathy, grief and outright heartbreak for the young men, coaches and staff who were lost as a result of this horrific accident. In attendance were some of hockey’s biggest names including legendary CBC broadcasters Don Cherry and Ron MacLean, as well as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Yesterday evening on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada broadcast, Cherry dedicated most of his Coach’s Corner segment to those lost in Friday’s accident. Never one to be at a loss for words, even the outspoken Cherry couldn’t come up with the words to describe this tragic event.
“There’s no words that can describe what happened here. You sit on those busses day after day, night after night… what can you say to the parents? God love them.”
