So… how about that nooner game yesterday, eh? The Toronto Maple Leafs, sorry Toronto Arenas, rolled past the Carolina Hurricanes 8-1 yesterday afternoon in a laugher of a game on the Leafs’ 100th birthday. The Leafs busted a three game slump and had break out games from players like Mitch Marner, William Nylander and Leo Komarov. Smiles all around, right? Well, buckle up because today’s match could be a little rougher.
The Leafs take on the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight at Nationwide Arena, where the Jackets have gone 12-6-0 this season. They’re currently on a two game slide, but with Vezina candidate Sergei Bobrovsky between the pipes on home ice, the Leafs will have to come at them with everything they got if they want to get a victory tonight.
Leafs backup goalie Curtis McElhinney is expected to get the start tonight and superstar Auston Matthews will sit out his sixth straight game tonight with a mysterious “upper body injury”.
Here’s how the lines shake out, courtesy of DailyFaceoff.com:
Komarov - Kadri - Brown
Marleau - Nylander - Hyman
Van Riemsdyk - Bozak - Marner
Martin - Moore - Kapanen
Rielly - Hainsey
Gardiner - Carrick
Borgman - Polak
Puck drops at 7:30pm tonight, go Leafs go!
Update: Looks like Blue Jackets backup Joonas Korpisalo will get the start and Bobrovsky will get the night off! Things are looking up, Leafs Nation!
