Don’t look now but Vancouver Canucks legend Roberto Luongo is back in Vancouver. The Florida Panthers netminder has been out of his team’s lineup since early December as he deals with hip and groin issues. But, the 38-year-old veteran has deemed himself “100% healthy” for tonight’s contest… does he play?
How great would that be? For what it’s worth, head coach Bob Boughner has not yet named his starter for tonight’s game.
Luongo reminisced with some of the Vancouver media this morning both about his time as a Canuck and about his gold medal victory at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
As usual, Lu couldn’t help but get in a couple jabs, as well:
It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost four years since the trade that changed the fate of the team. Since then, both the Canucks and Luongo have faced ups and downs, but it’s safe to say that if he does get the start tonight, there will be many happy fans at Rogers Arena.
