Isles GM turned down blockbuster trade on Monday!

It never ends with this GM!

Yeah, well, after Monday's trade deadline, thing surely didn't get any better for the New York Islanders and their general manager Garth Snow... Isles fans are still out with their pitchforks after New York was quiet at the deadline.

The team did manage to send veteran forward Jason Chimera to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Chris Wagner, but Snow once again failed to complete a major move at the deadline. And fans' anger intensified as not only did Snow failed to make a move that could have benefited his team, but reportedly denied a trade that could have made Isles fans smile for the first time in a while...

TSN’s Pierre LeBrun reported that one team was making a “hard push” for Brock Nelson on Monday, but Snow didn’t bite. And then, fans got on the twitter-verse and were outraged by the news.

“I know for a fact there’s a team that went hard at them recently on Brock Nelson and I don’t think the Islanders obviously wanted to do it," LeBrun explained.

“With the personnel we have, if we can get everybody playing to their potential we can beat anyone in the League,” Snow once told The Athletic. “We’ve shown that.

And here are some fans' reactions to the deal not taking place on Twitter (we took the more polite ones...):

The 26-year-old Nelson has recorded 14 goals and 25 points in 63 games. The Islanders could have managed to land a boost on the back end - an area they need to fix, especially if they want to prove to captain John Tavares that they can be serious Cup contenders in the future.

This controversial chapter to the Islanders' management is added to the recent anger the fans have felt towards Snow. A few weeks ago, a group of fans started a Go Fund Me in order to purchase advertising time on a billboard just outside of the Barclays Center, the arena where the Islanders currently play. The ad was designed to call for the termination of the Islanders general manager, and the crowd reaction during the Islanders last home game appears to support the end.

The Isles' fans were heard chanting "Snow must go" during that game and they have put their money where their mouth is, raising the funds for the Go Fund Me campaign in very short order. The group eventually succeeded in putting up the two billboards, even though veteran forward Anders Lee begged him to put the money towards a better cause, and be kinder to Snow.

Now the signs are where everyone can see them, including Snow himself...

Snow has been the general manager for the Islanders since 2006, overseeing three playoff appearances and one series win during this tenure. This is now a very important time for the GM, as Tavares is still unsigned and slated to become an unrestricted free agent in July. It would be time for Snow not to let his fans down - at this very significant time - and offer the best deal possible for Tavares, taking a huge step forward to signal the team's willingness and ability to be a true contender for the Cup for years to come...

If not, maybe Snow WILL go...
