Jankowski “pissed off” following Saturday’s scratch

The Flames rookie did not hold back with reporters today…

The Calgary Flames managed to eke out a 4-3 OT victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night, but they did so without the services of rookie Mark Jankowski.

The 23-year-old rookie was scratched by head coach Glen Gulutzan on Saturday and was forced to watch his team from the press box. Ultimately, the Flames prevailed thanks to a Sean Monahan OT goal, but Jankowski’s big body presence and soft hands were missed in the team’s lineup.

Earlier today Jankowski took his regular spot in the team’s lineup at morning skate, an indication that he may be back in for tonight’s rematch against the Blackhawks.

Jankowski admitted to feeling “pissed off” with Saturday’s demotion however saying, “I think everyone, when you’re getting scratched, you should be pissed off. You shouldn’t be happy about it. You want to be out there and be helping the team, because I think I can.”

Harsh words, but… you know what? We love it. Jankowski is right. He SHOULD be pissed off about missing a game. Good players want to play and they’re not content with watching along with the rest of us fans. We applaud the rookie for his candid comments and can’t wait to see what kind of fire he plays with tonight in Chicago.
